West Funeral Home and its founder, Thomas L. West, Sr. are both portrayed in August Wilson's play Two Trains Running. The original location of West Funeral Home was 2216 Centre Avenue. In 1970 this location [2215 Wylie Avenue] was built. Though Two Trains Running takes place in 1969, it seems that this location represented the funeral home in the play. It has also been speculated that the role of West is the only character in Wilson's plays to be based on a real Pittsburgh resident. |
