Two Trains Running is set in Memphis’ diner hosting several regulars struggling with injustices in the Hill District. Memphis’s diner is being bought by the city for redevelopment and he fights throughout the play for more money for his business. Sterling returns from jail looking for opportunities that have traditionally been reserved for white Pittsburghers and to find himself within the Civil Rights Movement. Hambone, Wolf, Holloway, West, and Risa struggle with their own past injustices and try to help Sterling and Memphis overcome theirs. |
